Defender set to sign

Last updated : 19 August 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

The pair were invited to train qith the squad after Darren McGregor was ruled out for the season with a knee ligament injury. Doig has played with Nottingham Forrest and Northampton Town, while Haddad played alongside Jeroen Tesselaar at Dutch side Telstar.

Saints boss Danny Lennon has been impressed by the pair and has offered one a short term deal - probably until the end of the year. The deal has been accepted but paperwork needs to be sorted out. International clearance would be required for both players - Doig was most recently playing in Indonesia - so that's not really a clue.

Haddad - whi has dual Dutch and Moroccan nationalities - would be my bet as he can apparently play in midfield as well as defence. He has also represented Holland at various youth levels.

Hopefully we should know a bit more later today.
