Clubs chase Goal Machine

Mehmet hit five of Saints six goals in the win over the third division side on Sunday, the first time a Saints player has managed as many goals in a game for over 30 years. While he is contracted for another year, it looks as if a string of clubs are queuing up for his services.

If a story on the Sky Sports website is to be believed - and it looks as if its come from his agent rather than a reliable source - there are SPL sides interested in him as well as clubs in the English Championship and League One. The fact Billy has a Turkish parent means there a clubs in Turkey after him as well.

As I said, the article - which you can see for yourself here http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11797_5475822,00.html
looks as if it came straight from his agent in a bid to stir up interest or force a new contract offer.

If it was true, Mehmet - ironically nicknamed the Goal Machine a few years ago - would be a big loss, especially this close to the season. How much should we be looking for? Well, Hamilton recently got £125,000 for the comically bad Joel Thomas so £500,000 doesn't seem to unrealistic!
