Campbell the next loan Magpie?

The teenager - who has represented England at under-19 level - is highly rated on Tyneside and has made a few appearances for the Newcastle first team. They're keen to loan him out to get him some first team experience and Saints are in the mix, Lennon saying he spoke to Pardew about getting the striker after Tuesday's friendly.

It would make sense for Campbell to join us following the success of Conor Newton and Paul Dummett's loans last season. However, we're unlikely to be the only club interested and the player or club may opt for a move to the Championship.

If he does join us Campbell could prove a terrific business. We are in desperate need of a striker and Campbell has pace, while he would surely benefit from playing alongside Steven Thompson.

One Newcastle youngster definitely not heading for Saints is Michael Richardson. The midfielder featured as a trialist in last week's friendly win over Stockport but has now joined Accrington Stanley on loan - possibly because we're now looking at bringing Newton back.
