Bowman For Cowdenbeath

When Chris Kerr was ruled out for over a year with an injury during the title season, Saints needed to find another left sided player. Eventually Gary Bowman was signed and did a reasonable job for his period at Love Street. The problem was he wasn't from Paisley and didn't support Saints, so he got a lot of unfair abuse. Another reason he got some was probably because he wasn't as good as Ian Ross, who he often deputised for. He usually made about one mistake a game, the problem being that the mistake usually cost a goal, unlike Scott Walker whose several mistakes a game usually didn't lose any goals. Gary's one and only Saints goal came against Inverness Caley in the title season, just days after their famous 3-1 victory at Parkhead over Celtic.

A few weeks ago he was reportedly on trial with East Stirlingshire, and it was possible he'd play against us in the League Challenge Cup. However nothing came of the deal and today's Daily Record reports that Cowdenbeath are set to sign him after he impressed in their reserves last week. Cowdenbeath manager (and ex soapdodger) Keith Wright said "He did well and we're looking for a left-sided player at the moment."

Mirren Mad would like to wish Gary all the best and hope the Cowdenbeath fans treat him better than the Saints fans did.
