Bobo Heading South Again

Last updated : 23 January 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
Since Craig Levein left Hearts for Leicester at the tail end of last year he has been raiding the SPL, just like Bobby Williamson did when he left Hibs for Plymouth Argyle. Levein has already taken Alan Mabury and Mark de Vries to leicester from Hearts, and has also fixed up Patrick Kisnorbo on a pre contract agreement. It seems that his attentions have now turned to Bobo.

Hearts were linked with O'Brien when Levein was there (and indeed new boss John Robertson is still interested in him), and with his Livingston contract expiring in the summer he could be set to move south again, with Leicester looking to treble his pay with a pre contract agreement.

O'Brien's last spell in England was a nightmare. He left Saints in 1999 for Blackburn Rovers, along with David McNamee, and only featured for the first team on a few league cup outings. The pair returned to Scotland to sign for Livingston in 2002. With O'Brien having already had a spell in ENgland, it's unlikely he'd end up being home sick like Stevie Crawford and Lee Mair have managed.

It looks like Bobo and McNamee will finally be separated. McNamee is also out of contract in the summer and may well be moving to Hearts if they can get their boardroom wrangles sorted out.

Both deserve to be at a better club than Livingston, and both deserve to be playing for Scotland (although O'Brien will be playing for South Africa soon), so hopefully the moves will come off.
