Saints v Ayr United Preview

Last updated : 05 December 2003 By Stuart Gillespie
Saints have no new injury worries, so it's the usual suspects of Kevin Twaddle and Paul McKnight missing, along with MacPherson himself, Graham McWilliam and David Jack. John O'Neill and Mark Crilly are still suspended, whilst Kirk Broadfoot will be playing his final game before starting a suspension, although it's only a one match ban.

With the same squad to choose from, MacPherson will probably go for the same lineup as he went for midweek, employing a 3-5-2 formation. This means Allan Russell and Brian McGinty will contiue together up front after apparently doing extremely well in midweek, whilst Laurie Ellis and David van Zanten will continue as the full backs. Hopefully there will be an appearance at some stage from Barry Lavety, as he continues the search for his first goal of the season.

Tomorrow sees Ludovic Roy's first return to Love Street since his departure in the summer. Roy left Saints in dramatic fashion, with a last minute penalty save in his final game to give Saints three points. Roy isn't the only former Saint with Ayr, Campbell Money is the manager whilst John Hillcoat is back up to Ludovic Roy. Chris Kerr was also signed in the summer but has been told he can leave. Lee Hardy and Dougie Ramsay, who were on trial with Saints in the summer, are also at Ayr, and Hardy will no doubt score after scoring as a trialist last week.

Saints managed to move slightly further away from the relegation zone with that midweek, and a victory tomorrow would mean we can breathe easier for a few weeks. It should be a good game, so get down to Love Street and cheer the team on.
