Brechin City v Saints Preview

Scott Walker will tomorrow join the likes of Barry Lavety, Ricky Gillies, Martin Baker, Paul McKnight and Kevin McGowne when he starts a second spell with St. Mirren, though this one is expected to be an extremely short one. Walker will almost definitely start tomorrow's game as a trialist, due to the absences of Gus MacPherson and Mark Dempsie, as well as McGowne and Kirk Broadfoot being doubtful. Walker spent last week training with Falkirk and this week with Saints as he bids to find himself a new club. He played, and scored, in a closed doors game this week. Due to the finances at the club, Walker is unlikely to find himself wearing a Saints shirt on a permanent basis (unless he buys one from Provan Sports, only £40), but he may drop his demands just enough to let us sign him. He is reportedly desperate to find a new club, so there's always a chance. Whether it would be a good thing or not I'm unsure.

Apart from the four mentioned above, the only other absentees are David Jack, Brian McGinty and Simon Lappin. With Walker playing, Laurie Ellis could well replace Robert Dunn at left wing, whilst Eddie Annand and Hugh Murray are finally fit and will probably be on the bench. The two blondes, Allan Russell and Barry Lavety, will probably start, whilst Mark Crilly and Kevin Twaddle could also find places in the starting 11, having recovered from injury.

Brechin came up from division 2 this season and have had a tough time, scoring precisely no points in their first four games. Their first points will have to come sometime, just hopefully not tomorrow! Fortunately Saints have never lost to Brechin, a record which should continue tomorrow.

Brechin have Dick "Goofy" Campbell in charge, a hero from Saints title winning campaign thanks to his brilliant few months in charge of Dunfermline at the start of the season. His best performance saw us beat the Pars 3-1 at Love Street, and just days later he resigned. A pity, as we could have wrapped up the title much sooner had he stayed put!

I predict an easy 2-0 win for Saints tomorrow, with Russell and hopefully Basher scoring.
