Mid Term Report

Last updated : 30 December 2003 By Stuart Gillespie
Each player is given a rating out of five, the higher the number the better they've done, and only players who have played this season are rated. So the likes of David Jack isn't. It's in alphabetical order, and is my opinion. If you don't agree with me, tell me via the message board :-)

Eddie Annand: Has hardly played due to various injuries. When I've seen him he's looked unfit.
Rating: 1/5

Kirk Broadfoot: Has done well in midfield or attack. Was made the SFL Young Player of the month, but has lost his way since then.
Rating: 3/5

Mark Crilly: Started off well, but hasn't lived up to what we were told about him, with the exception of his lack of discipline.
Rating: 3/5

Mark Dempsie: When he's fit he is a good solid defender, however he is rarely fit which explains the poor mark (gerrit?).
Rating: 2/5

Robert Dunn: An average player who has started looking like a footballer in recent weeks. Has reasonable pace and looks decent on the right wing. Terrible striker (too small) and had some shocking misses.
Rating: 2/5

Laurie Ellis: Looked solid at left back, has done what's been asked of him.
Rating: 3/5

Scott Gemmill: Has hardly played since the start of the season and his wonderful own goal against Ross County.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

Ricky Gillies: Wasn't overjoyed when he resigned, however he has been absolutely superb.
Rating: 5/5

Craig Hinchcliffe: Has done well since his arrival from Arbroath. Brilliant goalkeeper but dodgy at kicking the ball.
Rating: 4/5

Simon Lappin: Didn't start the season well but we were rubbish when he was injured. Has been superb since returning from injury and has scored for Scotland.
Rating: 4/5 (missed a chunk of the season)

Barry Lavety: Hasn't been anywhere near as good as his first to spells. Hasn't scored at all yet, and we live in hope one goal will get him going on a run.
Rating: 1/5

Gus MacPherson: Didn't look that good at first but gradually got better before getting injured. Now the manager but his rating is based on his playing.
Rating: 2/5

Brian McGinty: Only scored one goal, from the penalty spot. Does a lot of running around without producing, however is quite good when used in midfield.
Rating: 2 and a half/5

Kevin McGowne: There is mixed opinion on him. I think he's rubbish, and his distribution is awful.
Rating: 1/5

Tom McHard: Has only played a few games, did well when came on against Queens Park as a sub.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

David McKenna: Hasn't had many first team chances, hasn't looked bad when he's played.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

Paul McKnight: Useless eejit who has been injured most of the season, something we all knew would happen. Hopefully will leave soon.
Rating: 0/5

Graham McWilliam: Played against St. Johnstone in the league cup, but I can't rate him as I wasn't there! Hasn't appeared since.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

Andy Millen: Has only played one game so far, against Ross County last week. Decent first half, faded in the second.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

Alan Muir: Has played a few games and done well, but hasn't started a match yet.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

Hugh Murray: Has done well since recovering from injury, and has teamed up well with Ricky Gillies.
Rating: 3 and a half/5

John O'Neill: Started off exceptionally well with a brilliant goal rate, then slowed down due to injury and suspension.
Rating: 3 and a half/5

Allan Russell: Like O'Neill, started off well before getting injured, and has found goals hard to come by. A slightly more prolific version of McGinty.
Rating: 3/5

Kevin Twaddle: Like McKnight, except he's on a two year contract and gets paid the same regardless of injury. We all knew he'd be injury prone, and has done just that.
Rating: 0/5

David van Zanten: After a shaky start is starting to look decent now, doing well at right back.
Rating: 2 and a half/5

Stevie Woods: Hasn't played yet, has always been on the bench.
Rating: N/A (Unfair to rate him on next to nothing)

The attentive ones of you who have read this far will notice that Millen, Muir etc all have N/A whilst McKnight and Twaddle, who have played less games, have ratings. This is because they are useless and everyone knew they would be. With the exception of Millen (who has only just arrived), the N/As are being kept out the side because they are young or by a goalkeeper. McKnight and Twaddle have done nothing, and are constantly injured. Annand has at least looked like a player.
