Is there any Buddie out there?

Danny Lennon is obviously not happy with his squad. Why else would he try to sign strikers Steven Thompson and Leigh Griffiths and attempt to offload Hugh Murray in a bid to generate some extra cash? He is still looking to strengthen, but his comments following Saturday's dire draw with St. Johnstone suggest he won'tbe able to.

He said: "It's all ifs and buts but we're in no position to do any business at this time unless we free up some cash."

Seems fairly clear cut. And then he told the Sunday Mail: "I've a wee sum of money there and a list of players. I wouldn't expect much but maybe one or two things might happen."

Is it just me or do those statements seem to contradict each other? So which is the truth? Let's hope it's the latter.

The departure of Murray to Dunfermline, which seems possible, would free up some wages. The problem is, we ideally need two players - a striker and a centre half. The recent lack of goals shows just ho badly we need a strikers, while we desperately need a good old-fashioned, no nonsense centre half.

But, aside from the Thompson and Griffiths stories - which were never going to happen - it's been all quiet. Rumours are few and far between, meaning there has been no sign of Mirren Mad's popular Rumour Mill feature this month.

Lennon needs to pull something out of the hat quickly. Hibs and Hamilton are strengthening, while we seem to be standing still. It is obvious where our deficiencies lie and it is up to Lennon to do something to solve them. We need players, and now.

Surely there has to be a Premiership side who could give us a few youngsters on loan? or someone kicking about in the lower leagues in England or Scotland we could afford?

At the moment that doesn't seem to be the case and it's looking as if Jim Goodwin will be our only January transfer window. Sadly, if that is still the case in a week's time, there's only one place we're going.
