Name: Burton O'Brien

Current Club: Unattached

Position: Midfielder

Saints Career: Burton made his Saints debut as a 16 year old during the 1997/98 season, probably not the best time to do so considering we were in trouble both on and off the park at the time. He didn't play much of the following seasn until Tom Hendrie arrived at Christmas time. After this he was a permanent fixture in the team, and before he'd even got into double figures for appearances Blackburn had made a £300,000 offer for his services, and the same fee for team mate David McNamee's. The pair were on loan for the rest of the season, and Bobo scored his only Saints goal against Hamilton Accies with a fantastic free kick.

Post Saints Career: Neither Bobo nor McNamee got a league appearance for Blackburn (which would have seen us get more cash). The closest they came was when Bobo made a sub appearance in the league cup. At the start of 2002/03 the pair came back north, signing for Livingston, and helped them to win the league cup the following season. Despite the fact he has played for Scotland's under 21s, it looked like Burton would end up being capped by South Africa, however the deadline for that being sorted passed and it looks likely he'll end up in a Scotland shirt at some stage. In the summer of 2005 he left Livingston for English side Sheffield Wednesday and played most of the 2005/06 season, but didn't play as much the following season after manager Paul Sturrock left. He featured a fair bit in 2007/08, but it wasn't enough to prevent him from being released at the end of the season and he returned to Scotland once more by signing for Falkirk. He went to Falkirk for a few years - being involved in their relegation in 2010 - before being released in 2011.
