Jon came through the ranks at Saints and joined the first team squad in 2010. He was then sent on loan to Dumbarton for the 2010/11 campaign but suffered an injury setback early on. After that he was unstoppable, banging in 13 goals and winning a young player of the month award. That was enough to see him earn a long term deal at Saints and he made regular sub appearances over the first half of the season, starting against St Johnstone, and looked capable of handling himself. However, in January 2012 he was loaned to first division Hamilton until the end of the season in a bid to get even more first team experience.
