Smudger hasn't played for the Saints first time since he suffered a serious knee injury this time last year. He was loaned to Dunfermline in early December and played a few games before getting injured again. Now that he has once again regained fitness, he is set to get another chance to earn some match practice - and perhaps earn himself a new deal at Saints.
