Saints in Signing Shocker!

Last updated : 30 January 2007 By Stuart Gillespie
The deal looked dead at the end of last week, with Clyde rejecting Saints offer for the pair and manager Gus MacPherson not wanting to up his offer. However, somewhere along the line someone has had a change of heart, and the pair are now Buddies.

Malone has signed until the summer of 2009 and is a lef back, a position Saints have been desperate to fill for a few years. He used to play for St. Johnstone (and was one of three players sent off at Love Street in 2005) before his move to Clyde, and scored in their famous win over Celtic last year. He seems to be a bit dirty, and there are reports of him being racist. He's also suspended for two games! Hopefully he'll be a decent signing.

O'Donnell has signed until the summer of 2008 and is an attacking midfielder, something it's obvious we have needed this season. He has had spells with Dundee United, Ross County and Boston United and scored 11 goals last season.

Both will hopefully be good acquisitons for Saints, and chairman Stewart Gilmour is hopeful that there will be more new arrivals in the next 36 hours.

In other transfer news, Norwich are apparently set to up their bid for Simon Lappin to the grand total of £75,000 (what the hell was their first?!?), whilst John Sutton has not signed a pre-contract agreement and has no intentions of doing so.
