St. Mirren Previews

Previously (to Sunday, 7th February 2010):

Saints v Rangers preview

Fri 05 Feb
Well here's a rarity - a home game against Rangers on a Saturday. In recent years these have usually been played during the week or, at best, on a Sunday. And, even more unbelievably, it's live on the BBC.
Older articles:

Saints v Hearts preview

Mon 01 Feb
Saints play their biggest game of the season so far tomorrow night when they go head to head with Hearts for a place in this season's Co-operative Insurance Final.

Hibs v Saints preview

Fri 29 Jan
If there is a bad time to get Hibs, then this is surely it. They've just beaten Celtic and are on a massive high, while we haven't scored in three games and are struggling to create chances. This is not going to be fun.

Saints v Rangers preview

Tue 26 Jan
So, when you're on a poor run of form, can't create many chances and haven't scored for a few weeks, what's the last thing you need? A visit from the champions who've only lost once all season, that's what.

Motherwell v Saints preview

Fri 22 Jan
The first of a number of live TV games involving Saints over the next few weeks takes place tomorrow when we take on Moterwell at Fir Park. It's a fixture that was pretty good to us last year.

Hearts v Saints preview

Fri 15 Jan
With the disaster of 2009 now a fading memory, we'll be looking to keep up our perfect start to the new decade at Tynecastle tomorrow afternoon against Hearts. It won't be easy.

Saints v Aberdeen preview

Mon 11 Jan
Let's try again, shall we? Why wait until the weather might be better in late February or early March when you can ask everyone to freeze to death by rescheduling a game for a lovely January evening.

Saints v Alloa Athletic preview

Fri 08 Jan
It's a home cup game against a side from a lower division. What could possibly go wrong when Alloa visit St. Mirren Park on Saturday? Well, if recent history is anything to go by, quite a lot!

Saints v Kilmarnock preview

Fri 01 Jan
Will it be third time lucky in Saints' search for festive football? After the frustration of seeing two games called off due to the roads, rather than the pitch, let's hope we can finally get a game against Kilmarnock tomorrow.

Saints v Aberdeen preview

Thu 24 Dec
It's fair to say that we've not had the best of years in our new home, even if you include the cup wins. Let's hope we can have one last hurrah against Aberdeen on Saturday before 2009 comes to an end.

St. Johnstone v St. Mirren preview

Fri 18 Dec
It's a religious time of year, so it's appropriate that two Saints will meet in Perth tomorrow, with both sets of supporters seeing this as the perfect chance to get an early Christmas present of three points.

Saints v Falkirk preview

Fri 11 Dec
It's not even Christmas but once again we find ourselves in a must win game with Falkirk. Nothing less than three points will do when the Bairns come to Paisley on Saturday.

Dundee United v Saints preview

Fri 04 Dec
Twelve months ago, we were on a winless run before exploding into life in December by winning all four games. Once again there's been a lengthy spell since our last victory - can tomorrow at Tannadice be the starting of another winning run?

Celtic v Saints preview

Fri 27 Nov
Take one struggling side, add in a game against Saints and watch as their form magically improves. You couldn't really say Celtic are struggling, but their fans must secretly be delighted to have a game against us tomorrow.

Saints v Hibs preview

Fri 20 Nov
After a much needed week off that should have allowed some of our injuries to clear, we play our last home game for three weeks tomorrow when, weather permitting, Hibs come to Paisley.

Rangers v Saints preview

Fri 06 Nov
After a reasonably productive October that ended badly, we now kick-off an incredibly tough November with a trip to Champions League whipping boys Rangers.

Saints v Hamilton Academical Preview

Fri 30 Oct
How things change. A month ago things were looking pretty grim and we'd resigned ourselves to another poor season. Now, we have a cup semi-final to look forward to and are just inside the top six as we finish October by playing Hamilton.

Saints v Motherwell preview

Mon 26 Oct
Here we go again. Just a few days after playing Motherwell we meet once more, and again it's in Paisley. However, this time it's in the Co-operative Insurance Cup - and a place at Hampden is at stake.

Saints v Motherwell preview

Fri 23 Oct
Thanks to the wonder of the cup and the SPL fixture computer, we now find ourselves playing Motherwell twice, at home, in the space of the few days. Personally I'd rather have three points tomorrow than a win on Tuesday.

Falkirk v Saints preview

Fri 16 Oct
The stupid Scotland friendly is over; it's time for the proper stuff to begin again. Tomorrow sees us go back to Westfield since one day in May, and a repeat of what happened then would be more than welcome.

Saints v Hearts preview

Fri 02 Oct
Nine long months and 12, often dull, home league games have passed since Saints fans were last able to celebrate an SPL win in Paisley. Is tomorrow finally the day when we come of age at our new home?

Saints v Celtic preview

Fri 25 Sep
Tomorrow sees our first tussle against one of the Old Firm this season and, at the risk of receiving a visit from the men in white coats, it's a perfect chance for us to get our first league win at St. Mirren Park.

Aberdeen v Saints preview

Fri 18 Sep
The last time we won at Pittodrie, Mel and Kim were topping the charts, Ronald Reagan was the American president and I was two years old. The year was 1987 and it's about time we ended our terrible record, home and away, against Aberdeen.

Saints v Saints preview

Fri 11 Sep
The old battle of the Saints cliche will be getting rolled out for tomorrow's game, but there is more than a hint of truth in it as matches between St. Mirren and St. Johnstone are often ill tempered.

Kilmarnock v Saints preview

Fri 28 Aug
Two games in and we're still looking for that first league win. However, things are slightly different from 12 months ago as we have at least scored. Let's just hope tomorrow isn't a repeat of what happened the last time we faced Kilmarnock.
