BUDDIES TOP STORY:
Saints' whistle-stop tour of Ireland got off to a good start this afternoon when Paul McQuade and Craig Dargo scored in a comfortable victory over Ballymena United.
OTHER CLUB HEADLINES:
The numbers for the Saints squad for the new season were announced today and there was a fair bit of reshuffling for last season's players - while a couple of slots were left empty for potential signings.
St. Mirren Park and the club's training complex at Ralston will both be open next week as part of a special open day. Fans can enjoy seeing the players taking part in a bounce game at Greenhill Road before seeing where they normally train.
A packed pre-season tour of Ireland begins tomorrow when Saints take on Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.
Young striker Jon McShane will spend the rest of the year on loan at second division side Dumbarton, while released midfielder Mark McLennan has returned to the club for another year.
The Scotland under-21 side's game against Sweden in a couple of weeks will be played at Greenhill Road. It's the second international match to be played in the new ground after the under-21s beat Belarus there last October.
Former Saints assistant manager Andy Millen has taken up a similar role at SPL rivals Hamilton Accies. Gus MacPherson's long-serving number two left the club following his old gaffer's departure this summer.
Saints made it five Renfrewshire Cup wins in a row tonight thanks to a penalty success over local rivals Morton. Fittingly, it was club captain John Potter who converted the decisive spot kick to give the Buddies the trophy for a record 52nd time.
Celtic forward Paul McGowan became Saints boss Danny Lennon's 10th signing of the summer this evening when he joined the club on a season long loan deal. The 22-year-old has previously had spells at Morton and Hamilton.
Saints are believed to be in a three way battle to sign former Kaizer Cheifs defender Gordon Gilbert. The 27-year-old is also attracting interest from Inverness Caley Thistle and Dundee, where he is currently on trial.
